Fine Art Photographer· Munich

Dennis Gelner — Fine Art Photographer based in Munich.

I don't photograph bodies. I look for states — for moments when control breaks and something real becomes visible and/or tangible. My work moves between Fine Art Nude, conceptual portrait and erotic nude. Reduced, direct and deliberately at the boundary between intimacy, staging and profane provocation — where images unfold their true tension.

I'm not interested in pure perfection alone, but above all in presence. My work emerges through exchange — carried by trust, friction and an openness to the unpredictable. This is how images come into being that cannot be fully explained, but endure. I work on a project basis and with deliberate selectivity. Not as exclusion, but as the foundation for work with depth — for exhibitions, collections, prints and independent series. Munich is my base, Europe and the world my Studio.

A project in mind?

Conceptual portrait, Fine Art Nude or something in between — I take time for every enquiry. Selective collaboration in Munich and across Europe.

Häufige Fragen

Can I bring someone I trust?
Yes — of course. My only request is that the accompanying person stays in the adjacent room or out of the direct line of sight during the shoot. In my experience, most people feel more relaxed without a third person they feel watched by. We talk this through openly beforehand.
I've never done a nude shoot before — is that a problem?
Not at all. Some of my strongest work has come from people who stood in front of a camera for the very first time. We move at whatever pace feels right for you — no time pressure, no expectations.
Do you take every commission?
No — and that's a conscious choice. I'm not a photographer for hire. I take on a project when the chemistry is right and I see an interesting artistic angle, or when the overall concept or the person behind it genuinely convinces me. That has nothing to do with rejection — it's simply that good work needs resonance.
What kind of projects do you do — only nudes?
No. Fine Art Nudes and erotic nude photography are a significant part of my work (perhaps the largest) — but I also do conceptual portrait photography, boudoir shoots and other concept-driven projects (sometimes without people at all). What connects them: a clear idea.
Where does the shoot take place?
I work primarily on location — in real places. Spaces and locations bring their own feeling, their own character and their own meaning. Sometimes I work in my small studio in Munich (for smaller series or pieces), at outdoor locations in the region, or across Europe for projects that convince me. I'm happy to travel for the right work.
Are there limited editions of your work?
Yes. Selected works are available as limited Fine Art Prints. Each edition is produced in a strictly limited run and is understood as part of my artistic practice — not as a commercial photo product.
Can your work be collected or purchased?
Yes. My photographic works are accessible to collectors and institutions. Each piece is understood as an independent position within a broader artistic context.
Has your work been exhibited, or is it available for exhibitions?
My work is open to exhibition enquiries and curated projects in Europe and internationally. I collaborate with galleries, curators and institutions within the framework of joint exhibition formats.
